Manufacturing Estimator
Job Description
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Manufacturing Estimator for a long-term, day shift opportunity with a precision plastics machining and fabrication company in Tigard, OR. The person in this position will manage the quoting process for production and rapid prototype work by reviewing RFQs, developing accurate cost estimates, and coordinating with customers, vendors, and internal production teams.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm
Pay: Starting at $34/hour DOE
Manufacturing Estimator Responsibilities:

Review and respond to customer Requests for Quote (RFQs) in a timely and professional manner.

Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and models to determine manufacturing requirements.

Build Bills of Materials (BOMs) including raw materials, hardware, finishes, and outsourced processes.

Develop manufacturing routings by determining operation sequences, equipment requirements, and labor needs.

Estimate setup times, cycle times, and total manufacturing hours for machining and fabrication operations.

Prepare quotes for both standard production and rapid prototype projects with quick turnaround requirements.

Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing for materials and outside processing services.

Communicate directly with customer engineers and project managers to clarify specifications, tolerances, and drawing details.

Maintain quote logs and track RFQ-to-order conversion metrics.

Collaborate with shop management to compare estimates against actual production performance.

Support multiple active quotes while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times.
Manufacturing Estimator Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastics machining, fabrication, or precision machining.

Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.

Experience estimating complex machined parts with tight tolerances, secondary operations, and outside processing requirements.

Working knowledge of machining and fabrication processes including milling, turning, routing, cutting, welding, bonding, or related operations.

Familiarity with engineering plastics including HDPE, Delrin/POM, UHMW, PTFE, nylon, polycarbonate, and PEEK preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with engineers and project managers.

Ability to manage shifting priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP/MRP quoting systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
CNC programming or G-code experience.

CAM software experience.
-
Experience reviewing CAD, SolidWorks, or STEP files.

Experience with estimating or quoting software.

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.

Experience working in ISO 9001 environments preferred.

Background in defense, aerospace, or industrial OEM supply chains preferred.
