Machining Prototype Technician
Job Description
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced Machining Prototype Technician to support the build and development of precision rotating machinery used in advanced energy systems.
This is a hands-on role focused on assembling, machining, and prototyping turbine and generator systems. You’ll work closely with engineers to build and refine complex mechanical assemblies while supporting rapid prototype development.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building complex hardware and working in an R&D environment.
Pay: $50-65/hr+
Machining Prototype Technician Responsibilities:

Assemble hydroturbine and generator components including rotors, stators, shafts, bearings, and housings

Perform precision alignment of rotating assemblies including rotor–stator airgap verification

Support prototype builds, testing, teardown, and design iterations

Perform machining operations such as lathe, milling, drilling, and grinding

Fabricatate custom fixtures, jigs, and assembly tooling

Perform dimensional inspection using precision metrology tools

Work with engineers to improve manufacturability and assembly processes
Machining Prototype Technician Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in similar role

Experience assembling precision mechanical or rotating equipment (turbines, motors, generators, compressors, etc.)

Experience operating multi-axis CNC machines to create shafts, turbines, runners, fixtures, and tooling

Strong hands-on mechanical and machining skills

Understanding of hydro turbines and elcetrical machines (stators, windings, insulation systems)

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Familiarity with precision measurement tools

Experience with instrumentation and controls (pressure transducers, thermocouples, TRDs, etc)

Experience in prototype, R&D, or advanced manufacturing environments preferred
