Job Description
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Senior Fire Alarm Technician for our client supporting commercial and industrial fire and life-safety systems in the Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR market. This position supports installation, programming, inspection, and troubleshooting of complex fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with the following: NICET II fire alarm systems, IP-based and networked panels, radio and cellular communicators, NFPA compliance, and independent field troubleshooting.
Pay & Schedule
Pay: $40+/hour DOE
Shift: Monday–Friday, day shift; shared on-call rotation
Key Responsibilities
• Install, program, test, and troubleshoot commercial and industrial fire alarm systems
• Perform inspections and ensure full NFPA and AHJ compliance
• Configure and support IP-based, networked, and PC-programmed fire alarm systems
• Troubleshoot radio and cellular communicators and related components
• Complete clean, well-documented installations and service work
• Act as a technical resource for customers, project teams, and internal partners
Required Qualifications
• Limited Energy / Low Voltage license in both Washington and Oregon
• NICET Level II – Fire Alarm Systems (required)
• Proven experience with radio and cellular communicators
• Experience working with IP/networked fire alarm systems
• Ability to work independently and make field decisions without constant supervision
• Valid driver’s license and strong professional communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience leading inspections or mentoring junior technicians
• Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and coordinating with AHJs
• Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and life-safety system standards

Work Environment
This role supports commercial and industrial job sites throughout the Vancouver and Portland market. Work includes installation, inspection, and service of life-safety systems in active facilities. Technicians are expected to maintain clean documentation, follow strict safety procedures, and ensure systems are code-compliant and operational.
