Job Description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist - Setup and Programming for our client, a well-established custom parts manufacturer in Troutdale, OR. This is a senior-level machining role focused on setup, program prove-out, G-code editing, and process improvement in a high-mix, low-volume production environment.

Pay & Schedule

Pay: $32–$40/hour DOE

Shift: Day Shift | Monday–Thursday, 5:30am–4:00pm

Position Type: Direct Hire

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC horizontal machining centers

  • Prove out and troubleshoot new and existing programs

  • Edit and optimize G-code and M-code at the machine control

  • Analyze tooling, setups, and machining processes and recommend improvements

  • Create stable, repeatable setups for custom and low-volume parts

  • Verify dimensional accuracy using precision measuring tools and fixed gages

  • Monitor machining performance and identify issues proactively

  • Maintain quality standards and document program changes and corrections

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and keep work area clean and safe

Required Qualifications

  • Strong CNC machining background with advanced setup and troubleshooting experience

  • Solid understanding of G-code and M-code programming and editing

  • Experience with horizontal machining centers; FANUC controls preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints independently

  • Strong knowledge of speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and fixture setup

  • Experience with precision inspection tools and quality verification

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

  • Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled shop environment

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year Machining Technology degree or equivalent technical training

  • Experience in a high-mix, custom parts manufacturing environment

  • Forklift, overhead crane, or lifting device experience

Benefits

This is a Direct Hire position. A full benefits package is provided by the employer and will be discussed during the offer process.

Work Environment

This role is performed in a non-climate-controlled shop environment. Work involves standing for the duration of the shift, frequent lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasional lifting up to 70 lbs with assistance or lifting devices. PPE and safety compliance are required at all times.
