Job Description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Fleet Mechanic for our client in Portland, OR. This person maintains and repairs company equipment and assets using personal hand tools, including major engine overhauls for gasoline and diesel engines.

 

Shift: Monday- Friday 7am to 3:30 with Rotating Saturday’s

Pay: $25-35/hr DOE

 

Job Duties:

  • Perform bumper-to-bumper repairs and maintenance on trucks and trailers.

  • Conduct annual vehicle inspections per D.O.T. regulations.

  • Troubleshoot and repair low-voltage electrical, steering, pneumatic air brake, hydraulic, engine, transmission, and drivetrain systems.

  • Maintain accurate work orders (written/computer-based).

  • Perform occasional building and yard maintenance.

  • Ensure a clean work environment.

  • Conduct welding and fabrication as needed.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Knowledge of state and federal D.O.T. regulations for vehicle maintenance.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to operate Class 8 trucks and small forklifts (with training).

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

  • Well-stocked personal toolbox.

  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Vocational training or technical certificate preferred.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Engine rebuilding experience.

  • Familiarity with Cummins InSite, Detroit DDEC, or Cat ET.

  • Class A, B, or C CDL.
